Since 1877, The Fresh Air Fund,,an independent not-for-profit agency, has provided free summer vacations to more than 1.7 million children from New York City's toughest neighborhoods.
What we do Here
This is something new for us. We had one little boy, "Julio", for two weeks last summer (2007). We are looking forward to his return in July of this year -- and he is bringing along his young cousin "Chaz". The more the merrier!!
The kids are delivered (by bus) to Wellsville at Island Park. They stay about two weeks (one "session" is slightly less). They are totally "blown away" by our beautiful rural setting and the friendly people they find here.
Showing a child that the world is much bigger than their inner-city neighborhood (and that it has many more opportunities that they ever dreamed about) is an awfully easy way to say that you changed the world for the better.
