Farm Activities

Farm activities are available by appointment only or to overnight guests. Farm animals vary from year to year. I'll post updated information on our Facebook page.  Follow along to see what's happening.  (For our guests who return year after year, our beloved horse, Didi, our charming goat, Doc, and our wonderful dog, Duke, are no longer with us :(  To set up an appointment to visit the farm, go to our contact page and send us a message or private message us on our Facebook page.  Thank you for your interest in Greenwood Hill Farm.

DISCOVERY

The world is yours to explore. For many kids, just wandering the grounds, meeting animals, finding cool leaves and stones, and generally "doing it their own way", is all that is needed.

Playing lawn games (bocce, badminton, and tetherball provided), flying kites (some usually available), playing ball or frisbee with the dog are other favorites.

PHOTOGRAPHERS

Amateur photographers are encouraged to use our beautiful setting at any time.  With much wildlife and scenery surrounding the park, every photography is sure to go home with a great shot.

Observation

Activities that you can watch, if you are lucky with timing, include sheep shearing in the spring and lambing which takes place in April or May. You can also enjoy watching our delightful farm animals, and, if you are quiet and patient, you just might see some wild animals (deer, rabbit, bear, squirrels, etc.) enjoying the woods and fields or scurrying about looking for food.  We also have many birds, and, if you catch them at the right time, Monarch butterflies as they pass by. Bring along your notebook and pencils/watercolors and enjoy the art of nature notebooking.

PICNICKING

We currently have six tables that are approximately eight-feet long and will seat about eight people (ten, if you have folding chairs to put at the ends).

PLAY AREAS

There are large, grassy areas for games of all sorts (bring your Frisbee, but do not bring your "best and favorite" ball as the dogs have been known to eat them). This is an ideal area to fly kites, as there are no overhead wires to capture your kite. If you are feeling less ambitious, you can practice your basking, lolling and lollygagging.

    Additional Activities

Available by appointment or to FarmStay guests. Activities may include depending upon the season:   Feeding the sheep ( and if you are lucky there will be a little bum lamb that needs to be bottle-fed), feeding chickens and collecting eggs, moving the chicken shelter, feeding barn cats, etc. We have a dairy directly across the road from us, so you can see cows. There are also a few other farms that are located in our area that may be able to let you visit and observe their dairy cows being milked.  If you are interested, let me know in advance and I will see if there is availability.

Family Reunions

Please contact Greenwood Hill Farm for more information if you are interested in having a family reunion.  Thank you!

FIRE-PIT & NIGHT GAZING

In the evening, you can star-gaze (there is no "light pollution" here, so the sky is amazingly clear on many nights). There is a small fire pit near the farmhouse for you to enjoy or you can also gather in "Stonehenge" (woodland fire-pit area) to talk, sing, listen to music and make S'Mores.

FARM & WOODS TOUR

We will be happy to schedule a tour of the farm and the surrounding woods.  There are many beautiful places to meander and enjoy the magic of mother nature.
